Georgia Mountain Rally
Wow, we made it to Ducktown, TN before sundown! We left Chicago early and trucked down interstates to make as good time as possible. We found the most absolutely amazing road for the last 70 miles once we got off of I-75 - Route 68 was a perfect road through pine forest, very little traffic except for us, it had rained earlier and smelled divine, and GREAT twisties to invigorate us at the end of a long day in the saddle.
We spent the next two days riding on some of the best roads anywhere. Check it out - we found the Dragon! And we tamed that beast!!! That was at one end of the Cherohala Skyway. Some highlights were: the roadside BBQ where we ate lunch one day, meeting some great folks at the rally, suddenly zooming past the Chatooga Outpost, cresting a hill with the most spectacular sunset spread before me, and making it home safe after riding about 350 miles in the torrential downpour that flooded Nashville - safe but VERY wet!
I will be dreaming of these roads until I come back in August to ride the whole Blue Ridge Parkway and this area again. It can't come soon enough!!!
